Question 645950
how do i find the equation of the line that passes through points
 (3,1), (0,3), (-2,k) and how do i find its value of k?
:
Assuming it is a linear equation
Find the slope using the 1st two points
We know the y intercept from the 2nd point,(0,3)
:
m = {{{(3-1)/(0-3)}}} = {{{-2/3}}}
:
The slope/intercept equation: y = {{{-2/3}}}x + 3
:
the 3rd point: (-2,k)
x = -2 and k=y, therefore
k = {{{-2/3}}}(-2) + 3
k = {{{4/3}}} + 3
k = 1{{{1/3}}} + 3
k = 4{{{1/3}}}
