For each of those 26 ways to pick the first symbol, there are only 25 ways to pick the second because of the no repetition rule, so 26 times 25 ways to pick the first two symbols.  Then for each of those ways, 10 ways to pick the next digit, times 9 ways to pick the next digit, times 8 ways to pick the last one.


Altogether 26 X 25 X 10 X 9 X 8.  You can do your own arithmetic.
