Question 645038

I am an older student and just can't get the answer to this question.

Solve using the elimination method. Show your work. If the system has no solution or an infinite number of solutions, state this.
-12x + 27y = 60
-6x – 6y = 30

- 12x + 27y = 60 ----- eq (i)
- 6x - 6y = 30 ------- eq (ii)

- 12x + 27y = 60 ----- eq (i)
12x + 12y = - 60 ---- Multiplying eq (ii) by - 2 ------ eq (iii)
39y = 0 ------ Adding eqs (iii) and (i) to ELIMINATE x
y = {{{highlight_green(0)}}}

- 12x + 27(0) = 60 ---- Sustituting 0 for y in eq (i)

- 12x = 60

x = {{{60/- 12}}}, or {{{highlight_green(- 5)}}}

You can do the check!!
