Question 644652

Use the multiplication property of inequalities to solve the inequality. Graph the solution set.

1/4x≥-7/8
I think the answer is x≥-7/2 but am not positive, nor do I know how to graph the solution set. I would appreciate any help, as I need to show my work on this too.

You're correct, as {{{x >= - 7/2}}}

On the number line, place a CLOSED circle above or below the point {{{- 7/2}}}, or {{{- 3.5}}}

If you test to the left of that point, say - 4, the inequality will be FALSE.

If you test to the right of that point, say - 3, the inequality will be TRUE.

Therefore, you graph a VERY HEAVY-WEIGHTED ARROW from the point {{{- 7/2}}, or {{{- 3.5}}}, pointing to the right.
