Twice the sum of a number and 3 is equal to three times the difference of a number and 8.

6+2x = 24-3x
x = 18/5

the difference of a number and 8 can be x-8, too.
2(3+x)=3(x-8)
6+2x = 3x-24
x = 30

                  i got 2(3+x)=3(8-x) 
      but when i solve they don't equal where did i go wrong?
