Question 641912
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

Why did you multiply by the reciprocal? The problem says to multiply 7 by the fraction *[tex \LARGE \frac{1}{3}]. You can't just willy-nilly go around flipping fractions upside down with out compensating in some way -- which you did not do and which, in this case, would just make a bigger mess.

Multiply *[tex \LARGE \frac{1}{3}] times 7. Then and the opposite of the product, namely *[tex \LARGE -\frac{7}{3}] to both sides.

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
