Question 641508

y=-x+5
y=2x-4

This is the problem I have to do. Can you use any method for solving systems of equation? Can you also explain the problem?

{{{y = - x + 5____eq__(i)}}}
{{{y = 2x - 4_____eq_(ii)}}}

Since y = - x + 5, and y = 2x - 4, then:
- x + 5 = 2x - 4
- x - 2x = - 4 - 5
- 3x = - 9

{{{x = (- 9)/- 3}}}, or {{{highlight_green(x = 3)}}}

y = - 3 + 5 ------ Substituting 3 for x in eq (i)

{{{highlight_green(y = 2)}}}

You can do the check!!
