Question 640846
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

If you just toss out the absolute value part, you get:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x\ -\ 1\ =\ 3x\ +\ 2]

the solution to which is, in fact and indeed, *[tex \LARGE -\frac{3}{2}]

But that is only half of the story. You have to slip a minus sign in front of the RHS and solve the other half:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x\ -\ 1\ =\ -(3x\ +\ 2)]

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
