Question 639955

In an annual competition 3 members of a relay race win and receive £75,000. Split this into the ratio of 2:1:3. Please help me, thank you.

With a ratio of 2:1:3, there are 2 + 1 + 3, or 6 parts

The member who gets 2 parts gets {{{2/6}}} of £75,000, or {{{(2/6) * 75000}}}, or £{{{highlight_green(25000)}}}.

The member who gets 1 part gets {{{1/6}}} of £75,000, or £{{{highlight_green(12500)}}}.

The member who gets 3 parts gets {{{3/6}}} of £75,000, or {{{(3/6) * 75000}}}, or £{{{highlight_green(37500)}}}, which is also 3 times what the member who gets 1 part gets.
