Question 633630

Let
x be the smaller and y be the larger number

The larger of two numbers is 16 more than the smaller.
y=x+16.............(1)
When added together, the sum of the numbers is 6 less than three times the smaller
y+x=3x-6
y=3x-x-6
y=2x-6..............(2)
Substitute the value of y from (1) to (2)
x+16=2x-6..............(2)
16+6=2x-x
22=x
x=22
Put the value of x in (1)
y=x+16..........(1)
y=22+16
y=38

Numbers are 22 and 38
