What does *[tex \LARGE f(x)\ =\ x\ =\ 4] mean?  Did you miss the shift key when you meant to type *[tex \LARGE f(x)\ =\ x\ +\ 4] or did you hit one key to the left when you meant to type *[tex \LARGE f(x)\ =\ x\ -\ 4]?
