Question 627694
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

No. They only had 20 lbs to start with, so how could the mice have eaten more than that? ALWAYS look at your answer to see if it makes sense.

What you said, *[tex \LARGE x\ -\ 20\ +\ 8\ =\ 24], means I don't know how much I started with, but the mice ate 20 pounds of it, and then I added 8 pounds to what was left so now I have 24 pounds.

What the problem said: I had 20 lbs but the mice ate some of it and I don't know how much. Then I added 8 pounds and the over all result is 24 lbs.

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 20\ -\ x\ +\ 8\ =\ 24]

Solve for *[tex \LARGE x]

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
