Question 624941
Please can someone help me with this problem:
solve using substitution method. If the system has no solution or an infinite number of solutions state this.
3x + 24y = 24
27x - 15y = -15

3x + 24y = 24 ---- 3(x + 8y) = 3(8) ----- x + 8y = 8 ---- x = 8 – 8y ---- eq (i)
27x - 15y = - 15 ---- 3(9x - 5y) = 3(- 5) ----- 9x - 5y = - 5 ----- eq (ii)
9(8 – 8y) – 5y = - 5 ------- Substituting 8 – 8y for x in eq (ii)
72 – 72y – 5y = - 5
- 72y – 5y = - 5 - 72
– 77y = - 77

y = {{{(- 77)/- 77}}}, or {{{highlight(1)}}}

x = 8 – 8(1) ----- Substituting 1 for y in eq (i)

x = 8 – 8, or {{{highlight(0)}}}

Solution: ({{{highlight_green(0)}}},{{{highlight_green(1)}}})
