Question 615986
theres a few ways to solve it 2 main ways are by elimination or by substitution
i find elimination easier and faster
there are several ways to solve using elimination i try to find the easiest one to eliminate with using the smallest numbers
im going to eliminate the y variable since 2 goes into 6 3 times and 6 stays a 6
so multiply the top equation by 3
{{{3(10x-2y)=3(4)}}}
{{{30x-6y=12}}} <---new first equation
{{{3x-6y=12}}} <---original 2nd equation, now subtract the equations like u would an old fasion 3rd grade subtraction problem
{{{(30x-3x)+(-6y-(-6y))=(12-12)}}}
{{{27x+0=0}}}
{{{highlight(x=0)}}}
{{{10x-2y=4}}}
{{{10(0)-2y=4}}}
{{{-2y=4}}}
{{{highlight(y=-2)}}}
