Question 613129
Find three consecutive even numbers whose sum is 42. Show all your work using algebra.

Let the first even integer be E

Then other 2 are: E + 2, and E + 4

We now have: E + E + 2 + E + 4 = 42

3E + 6 = 42

3E = 36

E, or 1st even integer = {{{36/3}}}, or 12, and the 3 CONSECUTIVE EVEN integers are: {{{highlight_green(12)}}}, {{{highlight_green(14)}}}, and {{{highlight_green(16)}}}
