You really need to make it clear what it is that you want to do. I'm going to guess that you want to simplify the rational expression:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{14x^3y\ -\ 6xy^2\ +\ 8x^4y^5}{2xy}]

Each of the numerator terms contains a factor equal to the denominator:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{(2xy)\left(7x^2\right)\ -\ (2xy)\left(3y\right)\ +\ (2xy)\left(4x^3y^4\right)}{2xy}]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{(2xy)\left(7x^2\ -\ 3y\ +\ 4x^3y^4\right)}{2xy}]

Eliminate factors common to both numerator and denominator

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 7x^2\ -\ 3y\ +\ 4x^3y^4]

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
