Question 56483
{{{5/(2x-4)-3/(2-x)}}} In order to add or subtract fractions you must have a common denominator. First factor where you can:
{{{5/(2(x-2))-3/(-1(x-2))}}} The second fraction has a denominator with a factor of -1, mutliply the numerator and denominator by -1.
{{{5/(2(x-2))-(-1)(3)/((-1)*(-1)(x-2))}}}
{{{5/(2(x-2))+3/(x-2)}}} The LCD is 2(x-2), whatever you do to the denominators to get that you also have to do to the numerators.
{{{5/(2(x-2))+(2)(3)/(2(x-2))}}}
{{{5/(2(x-2))+6/(2(x-2))}}} Now you can combine the numerators.
{{{(5+6)/(2(x-2))}}}
{{{highlight(11/(2(x-2)))}}}
Happy Calculating!!!
