Question 601061
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

The wife gets 30%, the children each get 15%, and the brother gets 5%. You don't say how many children there are, but it must be more than one because you used the plural.

If 2 children:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 30%\ +\ 2(15%)\ +\ 5%\ =\ 65%]

If 3 children:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 30%\ +\ 3(15%)\ +\ 5%\ =\ 80%]

If 4 children:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 30%\ +\ 4(15%)\ +\ 5%\ =\ 95%]

The terms of the will cannot be fulfilled if 5 or more children so we must assume that there are 2, 3, or 4 children since you cannot have fractional parts of a child (despite what King Solomon was reported to have suggested).

Hence, the answer is either 35%, 20%, or 5% of the total amount of the estate. Do the arithmetic.
