Solve the system by substitution:
3X + 5<font color = "red">Y</font> = 2
 <font color = "red">Y</font> = <font color = "blue">-X + 2</font>

The second one is already solved for <font color = "red">Y</font>, so we replace
the "<font color = "red">Y</font>" in "3X + 5<font color = "red">Y</font> = 2" by what Y equals to, namely (<font color = "blue">-X + 2</font>)
placed in parentheses.

So instead of

3X + 5<font color = "red">Y</font> = 2

We write

3X + 5(<font color = "blue">-X + 2</font>) = 2

I will let you solve that

when you do you'll get X = 4

Now substitute (4) for X in

Y = -X + 2

Y = -(4) + 2

Y = -2

So the solution is (X, Y) = (4, -2)
