Question 588419
The formula for circumference is {{{C = 2pi*r}}}. Use this with C = 1/2 to solve for r:

{{{C = 2pi*r}}}

{{{1/2 = 2pi*r}}}

{{{1/4 = pi*r}}}

{{{1/(4pi) = r}}}

{{{r = 1/(4pi)}}}

-------------------------------------------------------
The area of a circle is {{{A = pi*r^2}}}. Plug in {{{r = 1/(4pi)}}} to find the area:

{{{A = pi*r^2}}}

{{{A = pi*(1/(4pi))^2}}}

{{{A = pi*(1/(16pi^2))}}}

{{{A = pi/(16pi^2)}}}

{{{A = 1/(16pi)}}}

So the exact area of the circle is {{{A = 1/(16pi)}}} square inches.

If you use 3.14 for {{{pi}}}, then the approximate area is 0.019894 square inches.
