Question 570399
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

Multiply the first equation by 2, then multiply the second equation by 9:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 4x\ +\ 18y\ =\ -8]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 45x\ -\ 18y\ =\ 351]

Note that the coefficients on *[tex \LARGE y] in the two equations are now additive inverses. Add the two equations to each other then solve the resulting single variable equation for *[tex \LARGE x]. Once you have determined the value for *[tex \LARGE x], substitute that value back into either original equation and solve for *[tex \LARGE y]

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
