Question 557135
Hi,

Solving this inequality, you need to be very careful about the operation of the inequality signs > and <.

When both sides of the inequality need to be multiplied or divided by a NEGATIVE number, the sign needs to be switched, i.e. changing < to > and vice versa.

For the inequality you asked, -6x>1/13, you need to divide -6x by -6 to obtain x. Therefore, right hand side also needs to be divided by -6, which is (1/13)/-6=1/-78.

However, as previously said, when both sides are divided by a negative number (-6), the inequality sign needs to be switched. The following is the layout of the solution:

       -6x>1/13
(-6x)/-6<(1/13)/-6 //inequality sign is switched
           x< -(1/78)

Ans: x<-(1/78)

Hopes this helps ;)

Cheers,
Heil
