Question 555875
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

*[tex \Large A'], more correctly denoted *[tex \Large A^{\small{C}}], means the complement of the set, or in this case, since the Universe set, *[tex \Large U], is defined, *[tex \Large A'] denotes the absolute complement of the set *[tex \Large A]. The absolute complement of a set is the set of elements contained in *[tex \Large U] but NOT in *[tex \Large A].

Your "upside down cup" is the intersection symbol and denotes the set of elements that are in both sets. You first must find the complement of *[tex \Large C] and then the intersection of that set with *[tex \Large A]
