Question 551279

The Line Parallel To y=-2x+4 Through (-4,3)

Since parallel lines have the same slope, and the slope of the above line is m = - 2, and the point is (- 4, 3), we apply this info into the point-slope formula:

{{{y - y[1] = m(x - x[1])}}}

Since x = - 4, y = 3, and m (slope) = - 2, then: y - 3 = - 2(x - - 4)

y - 3 = - 2(x + 4)

y - 3 = - 2x - 8

{{{highlight_green(y = - 2x - 5)}}}: Equation of the line, parallel to y = - 2x + 4, and passing through the point, (- 4, 3)
