Question 546143
We can assume that this is a round trampoline.
If the diameter is 10 feet, then the radius is half of that, or 5 feet.
Then we just need to use the Area of a Circle formula:
{{{A=pi*r^2}}} where pi is the value 3.1415926....
So we just need to substitute our value of 5 in for r:
{{{A=pi*5^2}}}
{{{A=pi*25}}}
{{{A=25*pi}}}
{{{25*pi}}} feet squared is the EXACT answer, and we surely didn't need a calulator for this one.
However, a real world answer is probably more appropriate if you were trying to measure the area.
So we will use the value of 3.14 for pi to approximate the area:
{{{A=25*3.14}}}
{{{A=78.5}}}
So the area of our trampoline is about 78.5 feet squared.
I hope this helps! :)
