Question 540771
1.A card is chosen randomly from a standard deck, recorded, and not replaced.
A second card is then drawn and recorded. Consider the two events below:
A = first card is an ace of spades
B = second card is an ace of spades
(a) Are A and B independent events? Why?
No they are not independent. If the ace of spades is drawn on the 1st
selection it cannot be drawn on the 2nd selection.
-------
(b) Are these events mutually exclusive? Why?
Yes, because p(ace of spades AND ace of spades) = 0
