Question 52779
Set this problem up as a proportion. I like to use {{{n/w = p/100}}}. N in this case means "part". W is your whole, and P is your percent. Your "part" in this case is 109.6 million. Your % is 1054%. You are looking for your "whole" or How many internet hosts there were in 1996.
So your proportion now looks like this: {{{109600000/w = 1054/100}}}.
Now cross multiply to get {{{10,960,000,000 = 1054w}}}. Finally divide by 1054 to get your answer. Which by the way is 10398481.97.
