Question 508947
The length of a rectangle is twice the width.The perimeter is 84 cm more that the width.

Let the width be W

Then length = 2W

Perimeter = 2(W) + 2(2W), or 2W + 4W, or 6W

Perimeter also = 84 + W

We can therefore say that: 6W = 84 + W

5W = 84

W, or width = {{{84/5}}}, or {{{highlight_green(16.8)}}} cm

Length = 2 * 16.8, or {{{highlight_green(33.6)}}} cm

------
Check
------

Perimeter = 2W + 2L ---- 2(16.8) + 2(33.6) ---- 33.6 + 67.2 --- 100.8 cm

Perimeter = 84 + 16.8 ----- 100.8 cm
