Question 502120
Hi, I need help graphing the function: f(x) = 1/2|x| + 2
I have tried graphing it as going up the y=axis to 2, and then going over 1 up 2 for 1/2... but I know that's not right. I know you can't show the graph, but the steps for what to do will help immensely!
**
For x>0, you can see the equation becomes a straight line with slope 1/2 and y-intercept=2.
Starting from the y-intercept, move one unit up and two units right (rise/run), to get the second point.
..
For x<0, the equation is also a straight line but with slope -1/2 (because of the absolute value of x) and y-intercept=2. Starting from the y-intercept, move one unit up and two units left (rise/run), to get the second point.
..
You were close to getting it correct except you got the slope backwards.
