Question 485570
<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

You are right. The book is wrong. It happens. Stop hyperventilating and get on with your life. If it will make you feel better, write a letter to the publisher and tell them you want your money back. (you won't get an answer, much less any money back, but you will enjoy venting your frustrations) If your professor/instructor/teacher/school administration says the book is right, ask him/her/it for your money back also.

Assume that

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{3}{2}\ =\ \frac{3}{2\ -\ x^3}]

Multiply both sides by 2:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 3\ =\ \frac{6}{2\ -\ x^3}]

Multiply both sides by *[tex \Large 2\ -\ x^3]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 3(2\ -\ x^3)\ =\ 6]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 6\ -\ 3x^3\ =\ 6]

Add -6 to both sides:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ -3x^3\ =\ 0\ \Leftrightarrow\ x\ =\ 0\ \neq\ -1]
