Question 483346
This is easy, all you need is to set up a proportion. you set up the units so that they look like a fraction, so long as miles and gallons of gas are ALWAYS across from each other.

Use X for now to specify the gas needed for a 574 mile trip. Right now, it will look like this: 5/205 = X/574

Then you need to cross multiply, so you have 205X = 2870

Finally, you divide by 205 on both sides to get X alone, and therefore, your answer.

2870 divided by 205 = 14, so X=14.

With this particular car, you would need 14 gallons of gas to accomplish a 574 mile trip.

Hope I helped! :)
