Question 469350
test the hypothesis at a = .05 that the two variances are equal. sample A variance 19, number of data values 8. sample B variance 9, number of data values 18.
A) do not reject the hypothesis because the test value 2.11 is less than the critical value 3.16.
B) reject the hypothesis because the test value 4.46 is greater than the critical value 3.01
C) do not reject the hypothesis because the test value 2.11 is less than the critical value 3.16
D) do not reject the hypothesis because the critical value 3.01 is greater than the test value 4.46
-----
Ho: sigma^2(A) - sigma^2(B) = 0
Ha: sigma^2(A) - sigma^2(B) is not zero
-------
I ran a 2 Sample Ftest and got the following:
F = 19/9 = 2.1111
p-value = 0.1974
Conclusion: since the p-value is greater than 5% fail to reject Ho.
The test result supports Ho.
