Question 48594
The price of popcorn is a linear function of the volume of the container. A 1 liter container sells for one dollar. A 1.6 liter container sells for $1.36. Write the price P as a linear function of V. What should the price be for a 2 liter container?
---------------------------------------
Form points of the form (V,P).
(1.6, 1.36) and (1,1)

The form of the equation will be P=mV+b
Need to find m and b.
m=(1.36-1)/(1.6-1)= 0.36/0.6 =0.6

Then using the point (1,1) solve for "b", as follows:
1=0.6(1)+b
b=0.4
EQUATION:
P=0.6V+0.4
----------------
Price of a 2 liter container?
P(2)=0.6(2)+0.4
P(2)=1.2+0.4
Price = $1.60 for a 2 liter container.
