Not necessarily.  The difference of two squares is a polynomial, but a polynomial could be other things as well.


Same idea as saying an orange is a fruit, but a fruit is not necessarily an orange.


So, I suppose all of that begs the question: "What is a polynomial?"  For that, read the Wikipedia article on the subject:
