Question 449185
i have a figure of a rectangle with sides 12 and base 9 and on top is a triangle with an unknown hypotenuse and perpendicular.the lines are of the same length while the base is 9.the height of the whole figure is 16 cm.How will i find the unknown sides of the triangle using pythagoras theroem?
---------------
If the height of the whole figure is 16, I guess the height of
the triangle is 16-12 = 4.
----
If the height of the triangle is 4 and its base is 9,
the hypotenuse^2 = 4^2 + 9^2 = 52
---
Then hypotenuse = sqrt(52) = sqrt[4*13] = 2sqrt(13)
