Depends on the shape of the rectangle.  The closer the shape is to square, the smaller the perimeter for a given area.  So if you had a 6" wide by 34' garden, you would need 65 feet of fence, but if you have a square garden, *[tex \Large \sqrt{17}] on a side, then you would need *[tex \Large 4\sqrt{17}\ \approx\ 10.6] feet.  If you can figure a way to express the length as some function of the width, I can help you.  Just write back.
