Question 45556
1x-2y = 8
      3x-2y = 12

Using Substitution Method.

Expressing x as a function of y (from the first equation) x = (8 +2y)/1

Substituting this expression into the second equation:

	3(8-2y)/1-2y = 12

Simplifying this expression:

	4y = -12

or

	 y = -3

	Now, substituting y = -3 back into the x expressed as a function of y:

	x = (8+2y)/1 = 2
