Question 433171
 I think a certain number. I multiply it by 6 and add (-18) to the product and take away one third of the sum I will get(-2).What is the number?
-----
Let the number be "x":
Equations:
6x + (-18)-(1/3)(6x+(-18)) = -2
6x-18 -(2x+6) = -2
4x-24 = -2
4x = 22
x = 5 1/2

Note: I changed my read on your instructions.
I assumed this time that you meant the sum of 6x and -18,
but maybe you didn't.
