The area of a parallelogram is given by mulitplying the base times the height. Multiply the two binomials using FOIL. The result will be a trinomial that you can set equal to *[tex \Large A(x)]

To determine *[tex \Large A(3)], replace *[tex \Large x] in the trinomial equal to *[tex \Large A(x)] with *[tex \Large 3] and then do the indicated arithmetic.
