Question 408655
I don't understand how to find the degree of a polynomial --- if the equation is 9x^2 + yz^8 the answer book says "9" -- when I add them I get "11"
the x has 2, the y has 1 and the z has 8, so to my way of thinking 2 + 1 + 8 = 11
----
The 9x^2 term has degree 2.
The yz^8 term has degree 9.
---
The expression has the degree of its highest degree term.
So the expression has degree 9.
