A math test has 25 problems.Some problems are worth 2 points and some are worth 3 points and the total points for the test is 66. how many 2 point and three point problems are there?
--------------------------
Equations:
t + r = 25
2t+3r = 66
------------------
Multiply thru 1st by 2 to get:
2t + 2r = 2*25
---
Subtract that equation from the one above and
solve for "r":
r = 66-2*25 = 10 (# of three point problems)
---
Solve for "t":
t + r = 25
t + 10 = 25
t = 15 (# of 2 point problems)
----
