Question 405392
As I say constantly, break the equation down before you do anything at all to it.
Start with taking the first sentence.
"Kenny spent one hour more than Lucas"
So begin with saying that Lucas is "x" and Kenny is "x+1".
The next sentence:
"Andrea spent one hour less than twice the hours Lucas"
Since Lucas is "x", you can say that Andrea is twice Lucas, "2x", and one hour less than Lucas, "2x-1".
Now the last sentence.
"...they spent fourteen hours..."
This gives you their total time, which will be the overall answer.
Now just add your variables up together and leave your equation alone.
(x)+(x+1)+(2x-1)=14
I'm quite tired, so if I'm somehow mistaken please let me know.
Hope this helps :)
