Question 404715
{{{(1/2):X=3:12}}}

We want the {{{1/2}}} to be 3. So we can multiply it by 6 to get {{{6(1/2)=6/2=3}}}. However, we have to do this with X as well to get

{{{3:3x=3:12}}}

Since the first two terms are equal to 3, this means that the second terms are equal. So {{{3x=12}}}, which means that {{{x=4}}}
