Question 401027
I assume the 2 at the end is an exponent. Please use the "^" character to indicate exponents, like this:
(6-9i)^2
Tutors are more likely to help if the problem is clear.<br>
To multiply this we can use FOIL on (6-9i)(6-9i), or we can use the {{{(a-b)^2 = a^2-2ab+b^2}}} pattern with "a" being 6 and "b" being 9i. I prefer using the pattern:
{{{(6)^2-2(6)(9i)+(9i)^2}}}
which simplifies to:
{{{36-108i+81i^2}}}
i = {{{sqrt(-1)}}} so {{{i^2 = -1}}}. Substituting -1 for {{{i^2}}} we get:
36-108i+81(-1)
which simplifies as follows:
36-108i+(-81)
-45+108i<br>
P.S. Thanks for your thank you note. It is nice to be appreciated!<br>
As to being paid to help you, I would like very much to do that. But there are complicated issues<ul><li>How I would be paid</li><li>When I would be paid (before or after service)</li><li>How we would communicate<ul><li>thru Algebra.com, taking advantage of its formula drawing and graphing facilities but raising the possibility that you would get free help from someone else before I could respond; or</li><li>directly via email and not have the formula drawing and graphing facilities.</li></ul></li></ul>which would make it very difficult for us to work something out with which we could both be happy.<br>
I suggest that you check out the ads on Algebra.com. Many of them are about about paid tutoring. Maybe one of those would be of help to you.
