An equation can't "equal" something.  An equation is two things that are equal to each other.  What you really want is an EXPRESSION that equals 33, right?

or


*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 44\ -\ \left(\sqrt{4}\ +\ \frac{4}{4}\ +\ 4\sqrt{4}\right)]
