Part (A):  There are three ways to choose the first item, and for each of those ways there are two ways to choose the second item and finally one way to choose the last item once you have chosen the first two.  So 3 times 2 times 1.


Part (B):  What do you mean by "the problem in the conic"?  That makes absolutely no sense in the context of this posting.
