Question 388052
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

Let *[tex \Large x] represent the number of adult tickets sold. Let *[tex \Large y] represent the number of child tickets sold. Since adult tickets cost $6, the value of all of the adult tickets sold must be *[tex \Large 6x]. Likewise, the value of all of the child tickets has to be *[tex \Large 2y].

The sum of these two values has to be the total cash receipts (unless they sold some space alien tickets we don't know about), so we can write:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 6x\ +\ 2y\ =\ 750]

We also know that there were 175 tickets sold, and again, since there were only two kinds of tickets, we can say:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ x\ +\ y\ =\ 175]

Solve the system of equations. The value of *[tex \Large y] is the answer.

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
