Question 387235
The first thing you did was correct, however, you cannot multiply 4 and 10. Why? Because it's not really 10. It's actually {{{10^12}}}

What you need to do is raise 4 to the 4th power to get {{{4^4=256}}}. This is using the idea that {{{(ab)^x=a^x*b^x}}}

So {{{(4.0*10^3)^4=256*10^12}}}. Now convert 256 into {{{2.56*100=2.56*10^2}}} to get

{{{256*10^12=(2.56*10^2)*10^12=2.56*(10^2*10^12)=2.56*10^(2+12)=2.56*10^14}}}

So in the end,  {{{(4.0*10^3)^4=2.56*10^14}}}
