Question 386446
Please help me solve this percentage mixture problem...
how many percent(%) alcohol should a wine maker add to 20 gallons of wine that is 12% alcohol to have 30 gallons of wine that is 14% alcohol?

%A * amount A + %B * amount B = %C * amount C
let %A = 12% or 0.12, let amount A = 20 gallons
let %B be what you solving for, let amount B = 10 gallons (30 - 20 = 10)
let %C = 14% or 0.14, let amount C = 30 gallons

0.12 * 20 + %B * 10 = 0.14 * 30
2.4 + %B * 10 = 4.2
%B * 10 = 1.8
%B = 0.18

18% alcohol
