Whenever you multiply an inequality by a negative number, reverse the sense of the inequality.  That is *[tex \Large >] or *[tex \Large \geq] becomes *[tex \Large <] or *[tex \Large \leq] or vice versa.


The reason that the rule <i>doesn't</i> say "Whenever you multiply <i>or divide</i>...(and doesn't need to) is left as an exercise for the student.
